Take Me Out To The Ballpark

I'm not a baseball fan but I might become an Oakland A's fan now. The Oakland A's announced that they will honor the four Oakland Police Officers killed in last month's shooting. A ceremony is planned for the A's home opener, money's will be collected for the officer's families and the owner of the A's announced he will match all money collected. The A's are also going to wear Oakland PD patches on their baseball uniforms for the entire season.
Officer Jeff Thomason, a police spokesman, said the department was grateful for the team's support. "It's overwhelming for us," he said. "It does mean a lot for the Oakland Police Department and the men and women who work here." Source: SFGate.com
It seems like most news about Oakland PD makes you think they are always under siege from a community that doesn't like them. Things like this should help Oakland PD feel appreciated.

In another note, the Oakland Police Officers Association has set up a trust fund for the officers' familes.
